And many thing that they need 200bhp to go fast!! I would love to trash that but I would never have the balls to go that fast even if I could!
That was a 100mph+ lap on a machine from the 70s, so faster than I could ever dare of going. I remember a pair of journalists going around at an average of 73 (or was it 78? I forget) mph in ordinary traffic on a pair of singles (XBR500 and SRX6, bog stock) in 1985, which I may have been able to duplicate - on a current supersport, of course.
To think that Duke lapped a Gilera 500 at 100 mph (99.97 to be exact) back in 1955, when the roads were in a much worse state of repair than they are today, is simply mind-boggling.
Let alone the tyres back then Faff....
